What A Night!
On the evening of December 16, three of our sister churches joined with us to welcome our own LINKS missionaries, Dr. Randy and Ms. Mary Jane James for an exciting and inspiring Missions Rally. Our service started with Ms. Mary Jane leading us all in song and teaching us a new Praise song that is a favorite among the students at African Nazarene University. Dr. James then recounted some of their adventures in Africa and explained how the Lord is working in the lives of so many there. We learned how we can support the efforts of the Nazarene Church to spread the Word in Africa and to provide scholarships to African Christians who would otherwise not be able to attend ANU. We also learned that because of the corruption and one hundred percent tariffs on goods shipped into Kenya, we cannot support our missionaries with packages. Ms. Mary Jane did say that what is really helpful to them is to receive a card with a small paper good tucked into it. For example, if you’d like to send them a greeting card with your thoughts and prayers, you could tuck into the card a single sandwich bag, a folded sheet of wax paper, a large package of Kool-Aid, a few non-herbal tea bags, or three or four packages of sweet and low. Cards that are 5X7 can usually hold a little treasure for our missionaries. Please keep them and their students in your prayers especially as Kenya is suffering from sectarian violence related to its national election cycle. Cards can be mailed to:

LINKS stands for "Loving, Interested Nazarenes, Knowing and Sharing." The LINKS program of the Church of the Nazarene is a network of personal connections between missionaries and Nazarenes around the world. Missionaries are assigned to districts and, then on the district level, connected to local churches. This gives each church an opportunity to become personally acquainted with the missionary family and their field of service. Typically, churches send packages, cash gifts, cards, and other remembrances to their LINKS missionaries.
Our purpose, as a church, for our assigned missionaries, who are Dr Randall and Mary Jane James is to be much in prayer for them daily, to love them, to correspond with them by sending cards signed by our church members, to send e-mails, and to remember them on special occasions with gifts and offerings of our love for them. Whatever their needs are, we as a church want to be there for them and assure them of our prayers, love, and support.
We also have a LINKS relationship with a lovely, retired missionary named Ms. Carolyn Myatt.
